Job description

As our IT technician, you will provide general IT support for the Greens Creek mine site. Every day you will work at a mine site on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. You’ll start everyday planning and prioritizing work activities, using time efficiently and effectively. You will be called upon to assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, printers, phones, and mobiles devices, providing general IT support. To thrive in this role, you must have the initiative to keep abreast of rapidly changing technical developments and opportunities, communicating them with the IT Director and your colleagues. We’re on a remote island, you must know how to work independently and be available to respond during non-working hours for urgent situations.

The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989, employing approximately 490 people. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Greens Creek Lead Systems Analyst, IT Technician is responsible for the day-to-day execution of Greens Creek IT department business system services in a Windows and O365 multi-tenant environment. The IT Technician partners with Corporate IT to ensure effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of IT hardware, software, and related infrastructure. Scope includes secure and reliable IT: networks, end- user computers, Fiber/Ethernet/Internet Service Provider (ISP) interfaces, along with border connectivity to OT SCADA. This individual works within the Hecla IT team to ensure Greens Creek business IT infrastructure, operating systems, and software systems are executed in documented and consistent manner using the ticketing system and documented procedures to meet site needs within an enterprise environment. Individual must be self-driven and be able to work independently, as this position frequently works without direct supervision.
