WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends)

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Provides leadership at district and school level in the development, coordination, and implementation of special education and related services for students with significant behavioral and social emotional needs. Serves as the liaison between the central office and schools and promotes the development and improvement of programs for all exceptional children.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Leads the district work group in the development and implementation of social/emotional and behavioral programming for students s K-12.
  2. Works collaboratively with school and district administrators in the development and implementation of social/emotional and behavioral programming.
  3. Collaborates with administrators to develop a process for collection of data to measure the effectiveness of student progress in the school based social/emotional and behavioral programs.
  4. Leads Special Education Services or collaborates in the deployment of professional learning, coaching, modeling, and check of fidelity of implementation for special education processes and procedures.
  5. Develops and deploys resources for implementation of Social/Emotional Behavioral Programming (i.e., Canvas, etc.).
  6. Designs, delivers, evaluates, and monitors the effectiveness of professional development on the instructional process, student achievement, and system goals.
  7. Provides guidance and coaching to school-based instructional and administrative staff in the development of professional activities as it relates to implementation of Social/Emotional and Behavioral programming and transitions between levels and upon graduation.
  8. Attends district, state and national meetings, conferences, and activities to continue professional growth, including activities that support and promote system initiatives.
  9. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work requires driving automotive equipment. Must be able to access multiple work sites independently and efficiently within a workday. Travel is required to schools, central services offices, and locations within Wake County.
