We are seeking an Engineering staff member to join our team.
Research and Development Support : Participate in research and development programs by contributing to the design, maintenance, operation, and improvement of instruments, equipment, and systems.
Instrument and Equipment Design : Design and develop instruments, machinery, and equipment used in plasma physics research, ensuring their functionality, reliability, and performance meet project requirements.
Computer Program Development : Design, write, maintain, and improve computer programs and systems used for data analysis, simulation, control, and automation in support of research activities.
System Optimization : Identify opportunities to optimize existing systems and processes through innovative engineering solutions, efficiency improvements, and technological advancements.
Collaborative Projects : Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and technicians to integrate engineering solutions into research projects and contribute to the achievement of project goals.
Technical Documentation : Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, operating procedures, user manuals, and technical reports, to document engineering solutions and facilitate knowledge transfer.
Quality Assurance : Ensure the quality and reliability of engineering solutions through rigorous testing, validation, and verification processes, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
Safety Compliance : Adhere to safety protocols and regulations when designing, operating, and maintaining equipment and systems, prioritizing the safety of personnel and the integrity of research facilities.
Continuous Improvement : Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency, productivity, and innovation in research and development activities.
Training and Mentoring : Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to junior engineering staff, interns, and collaborators to foster professional development and knowledge sharing within the team.
Engineering Expertise : Possess specialized knowledge and skills in engineering disciplines relevant to plasma physics research, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, or systems engineering.
Research and Development Experience : Demonstrate experience and proficiency in contributing to research and development programs, projects, or initiatives, preferably in a scientific or technical environment.
Technical Proficiency : Exhibit advanced technical skills and proficiency in engineering software tools, programming languages, simulation techniques, and experimental methodologies used in plasma physics research.
Problem-Solving Skills : Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify complex engineering challenges, develop innovative solutions, and overcome technical obstacles in research projects.
Communication Skills : Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, technicians, and stakeholders, conveying technical concepts and recommendations clearly and concisely.
Project Management : Demonstrate project management skills to plan, organize, and execute engineering projects effectively, meeting project milestones, deadlines, and deliverables within budget and scope.
Adaptability and Flexibility : Adapt to changing priorities, project requirements, and research objectives, demonstrating flexibility, resilience, and a willingness to learn new skills and technologies as needed.
