Our Herndon office is looking for a Staff Accountant who embodies this purpose to join our best-in-class accounting and finance team.
The position will report directly to the Accounting Manager and will work on an individual and team basis within the Accounting Department. He or she is responsible for timely and accurate reporting of financial information. The Staff Accountant will deliver consistent and accurate information on a timely basis. To be successful in this position, the individual must be able to display an extremely high level of organizational skills, be able to multi-task and display honesty and integrity when producing, delivering and distributing information. In addition, a high level of confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
- General Ledger operations
- Assist with the month end close process
- Prepare and record journal entries including payroll
- Preparation of various management reports
- Preparation and review of various graphs and charts for month-end and management meetings
- Maintain fixed assets schedule and system
- Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Assist with various tax returns and census reporting
- Assist with preparation and coordination of the year-end process
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
- Assist with accounts receivable reporting
- Assist with indirect expense review
- Assist manager with special projects and analyses
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
- Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree
- 1-3 years of General Ledger accounting and financial reporting experience
- Previous experience in a service industry preferred
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Knowledge of financial reporting
- Proficiency in relevant accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Strong technical accounting skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Self-starter and can demonstrate initiative
- Attention to detail and accuracy
