Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Manager of Technical Accounting with a strong background in the biotech/pharma industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of consolidated financial information, leading the quarterly corporate content creation, and reviewing financial information for compliance with SEC filing reporting requirements. This position requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and experience in the intricacies of financial reporting within the biotech/pharma sector.

Hybrid work, 50/50 onsite & remote

Responsibilities:

  1. Consolidated Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation and consolidation of accurate and timely financial information for the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  2. SEC Filing Compliance: Oversee the preparation and review of financial information included in quarterly and annual SEC filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all reporting requirements.

  3. Technical Accounting Expertise: Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations, providing guidance on the interpretation and application of complex accounting issues, especially those specific to the biotech/pharma industry.

  4. Quarterly Corporate Content: Lead the development and production of quarterly corporate content, including financial highlights, management discussion and analysis (MD&A), and other relevant disclosures.

  5. Financial Statement Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial statements, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Present findings to executive leadership and make recommendations as needed.

  6. Internal Controls: Develop and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements and implementing improvements as necessary.

  7. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including finance, legal, and external auditors to ensure alignment on accounting policies, financial reporting, and disclosure matters.

  8. Audit Support: Provide support and documentation for external audits, responding to auditor inquiries and addressing any identified issues.

  9. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial reporting and develop and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  10. Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
