Job Title: Media Relations Strategist

Reports To: Director of Media Relations
Location: MO, IL, NC, or TX, Remote, M-F, Central Time
Restriction: This opportunity is for candidates residing in or relocating to MO, IL, NC, or TX
Compensation: $36,000 to $40,000 Annually + Benefits
The PR and Content Division of Intero Digital is looking for a Media Relations Strategist. The ideal candidate is expected to evaluate situations through the lenses of the company’s core values including situations that cannot be addressed in this list. Time allocation is indicative and subject to change based on organizational needs and project priorities. Flexibility and collaboration across departments are essential.

The media relations department is fully focused on media relations (building relationships with journalists, editors, publishers, etc.) and is the distribution arm of the PR and Content Division of Intero Digital for all earned media including (but not limited to) guest contributed articles and PR pitch campaigns.
Responsibilities
Content Strategy and Management (45%)
Oversee guest contributed content queues, ensuring timely approvals and providing constructive feedback.
Suggest publications that are a match for provided topics and build media lists in MuckRack to match PR campaign themes.
Pitch content to editors and journalists, considering client and publication needs, and follow up on submissions.
Act as the subject matter expert for publications, maintaining up-to-date profiles and tracking submissions.
Review topics and articles for quality and publication fit.
Relationship Building and Maintenance (30%)
Establish and maintain strong relationships with publication editors, journalists and other key contacts.
Proactively address content errors and client edit requests in published content.
Build professional connections beyond day-to-day tasks, adapting to changes within publications, to ensure high acceptance rates and timely publication of client content.
Reach out to publications that we do not currently work with that could benefit our client’s goals.
Client Strategy and Communication (15%)
Support client strategies by understanding account goals, success metrics, and target audiences.
Provide guidance on improving earned media strategy.
Offer insights based on publication trends and performance.
Internal Administration and Communication (10%)
Lead and participate in team meetings, ensuring effective communication and documentation.
Maintain an organized approach to email, Slack, and other communication tools.
Contribute to interdepartmental coordination and support colleagues in their responsibilities.
Participate in completing division-wide rocks, media relations department rocks, or rocks for other departments when needed/asked.
