Job description
Summary
Administrative, operational, and clinical responsibilities for all services in the facility on evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Actively manage nursing staffing to ensure safe staffing levels and budgetary constraints are met. Oversee admission and discharge functions. Serve as primary contact for the facility's internal and external customers. Provide leadership, supervision, and serve as a role model to staff ensure adherence to standards of clinical excellence and opportunities for professional development. Monitor practice to ensure compliance with licensing and accrediting agency standards. Participate in hospital committees and the performance improvement process.
Key Responsibilities - Administrative, operational, and clinical responsibilities is assumed for all services in the facility on evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Appropriate use of resources is demonstrated.
- Nursing staff supervision, support, and mentoring are provided to promote staff development and adherence to the standards of clinical excellence.
- Appropriate intervention is demonstrated in all situations, e.g., deterioration of patient condition, disruptive behavior, equipment malfunctions, etc.
- Adequate staffing is ensured to meet coverage demands.
- Delegation of work to staff is consistent with their abilities, professional development and needs of the unit.
- Patient/resident satisfaction is promoted and aligned with broader action plans.
- Observations related to staff performance are shared with the appropriate nurse manager. Participates in staff performance reviews as per organizational guidelines.
- Department compliance is monitored and maintained to meet licensing and accrediting agency standards.
- Practice is guided by and congruent with the American Nurses' Association's Nursing Administration: Scope and Standards of Practice and the American Organization of Nurse Executives' Nurse Executive Competencies.
- Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.

Qualifications Education/Degree Required
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Nursing highly preferred.
