Job Summary

is seeking a Research Technician II to join the team. This role is the perfect position for those who would like to gain further research experience before embarking on the next phase of their career (for example, graduate school, medical school, or industry). This position provides ample exposure to various cutting-edge single cell and spatial genomics technologies, next-generation sequencing, and data science methodologies. The Research Technician will be directly mentored by a senior fellow in the lab and work closely with Dr. Chen to take part in the whole process of one or several important projects (from project inception to all the way to publication). The Research Technician will also have the opportunity to lead an independent project after receiving proper training. Candidates should have basic knowledge and experience in molecular and cell biology. Motivated individuals who are eager to learn new things and are not afraid to work on high-risk/high-reward projects are strongly encouraged to apply.

Experience and Education

· Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required. or

· Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and two (2) years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent. or

· High school graduation or GED and four (4) years laboratory experience to include two (2) years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.

Job Duties

Performs routine scientific research work in science area such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field.

· Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.

· Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.

· Assists in collection of data for project reports.

· Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.

· May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.

· Performs other duties as assigned.
