Position Summary/Description:

On behalf of the Dean, the Director of Faculty Administration ( DFA ) provides administrative leadership and management of all appointment, promotion and tenure activities in the College of Arts & Sciences. The DFA will report directly to the Associate Dean for Human Resources and serve as the first point of contact for faculty related programs, processes and policies and serve as the first point of contact for faculty policy interpretation. This position will work with the senior academic leadership, the Arts & Sciences Advisory committee ( ASAC ) and colleagues in the Office of the Provost and Office of Faculty Affairs to ensure timely faculty appointments, promotions and reviews. The DFA will take the lead on other faculty related processes and appointments, such as but not limited to, faculty research leaves, phased retirement program; and the nomination and appointment process for distinguished professorships, department chairs and center and program directors. 
The DFA will create and, maintain resources, facilitate training and deliver workshops on a continuous basis.

Education and Experience:

Prior experience in a higher education setting is highly preferred. A thorough knowledge of UNC faculty policies and procedures and some knowledge and/or experience with appointment, promotion and tenure review policies and processes.
