HR Director, Manufacturing Operations Primary Purpose: The Human Resources (HR) Director for this Operations and Manufacturing position is primarily responsible for all HR related matters at one unionized and one non-unionized manufacturing facility in the Cleveland area. This generalist position is located at one of the sites and works closely with site management and is supported by HR specialists and the Legal Department who are located at the company headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio. This position reports directly to the Global Vice-President for Human Resources (CHRO).
Major Duties and Responsibilities: - Ability to work effectively within a union and non-union environment. Knowledge of labor and employment laws. Working knowledge of collective bargaining and grievance processes. Manages the company's response to union matters.
- Ability to resolve various sensitive employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and enforce disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for the enforcement of company policies, procedures, and union work rules.
- Ability to work closely with senior level site management to achieve corporate goals.
- Establishes strategies, priorities, and job descriptions to retain top talent within the company. Works with management during the recruitment and selection process of new employees.
- Collaborate with the Legal Dept. to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Additional Responsibilities: - Manages the review of the US Operations Handbook.
- Manages the company Service Awards Program.
- Ensure adherence to immigration I-9 regulations and federal EEO-1 filings.
- Inputs select confidential employee data into the HRIS WORKDAY system.
- Advises management on staffing plans and ensures hiring goals are achieved.
- Monitors employee turnover and conducts exit interviews.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of HR experience.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing union environment.
- Prior experience handling employee relations matters.
- Prior experience handling sensitive and complicated investigations.
- Previous experience handling exit interviews with terminated employees.
- Well-developed presentation and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: - Preferred SHRM-SCP or PHR certification.
- Preferred prior experience with WORKDAY.
Key Relationships: - Operations team, Business Unit Leaders, Global HR, Legal, Compliance
Travel Requirements: - Travel will be required between Richmond Heights and Willoughby plant locations.
- Travel to other locations 5%
