LSI seeks a dedicated and energetic individual to work part-time occasional hours as F armers Market Associate within the Immigrant and Refugee Community Services department in Des Moines.
What You'll Do
Assists and supports refugee clients as vendors at the Global Greens Farmers' Market and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). Farmers' Market Associate will attend market and provide administrative functions to ensure a successful market. Responsible for setting up and tearing down vendor stands. Provide assistance with the Global Greens Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) by providing staffing at a drop site and delivering produce. Associate will coordinate with program supervisor in market event planning, purchasing of supplies and equipment for farmers' market and strategic planning for general program oversight. Direct services will include but are not limited to helping to process credit card, EBT, and Double Up Food Bucks payments; collecting vendor fees; providing customer support at Global Greens market booth; and delivering produce.. Seasonal work, weekends during Global Greens Farmers' Market and some evenings required. Length of position assignment may depend on the changing needs of the program. Must be able to work Saturdays.
What You'll Need
Required: Minimum of one year of experience in customer service. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and demonstrate culturally competent social skills and interactions.
Preferred: In addition to the required competencies, a preferred candidate will have one or more years of experience working in farmers' markets. Knowledge of local farmers' markets and the general local food movement in the area is preferred.
