Job description
Field Service Technicians play a crucial role in providing mechanical and technical support for processing and packaging equipment at customer facilities, with an unwavering focus on delivering exceptional service. In this dynamic position, technicians investigate and resolve customer reports of technical issues promptly and effectively, ensuring the elimination of future operational or service difficulties for our valued customers.

Travel :
This is a position that involves frequent travel and overnight stays, mainly focused on providing customer service in specific regions. Technicians will regularly use air and ground transportation, with travel arrangements provided. It is important to be flexible to accommodate the schedules of both internal and external customers, including the willingness to work outside of regular business hours and occasionally on weekends. Additionally, there may be a requirement for technicians to work ten consecutive days followed by four days off, with this schedule potentially starting on any day of the week. Technicians must be prepared to travel at short notice as required by customer demands, ensuring timely and responsive service delivery at all times.
Essential Qualifications:
- Troubleshooting and Equipment Installation : Successfully troubleshoot and install sophisticated, customized packaging and processing equipment at customer facilities, while ensuring compliance with customer specifications and company standards.
- Efficient Repair Services : Promptly and efficiently repair equipment to meet customer specifications, addressing complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and robotic challenges to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
- Effective Customer Communication : Serve as a communication link between customers and our client to ensure efficient service delivery. Regularly update the regional scheduler on all service efforts and maintain open communication channels with customers to promptly address concerns or inquiries.
- Job Management Responsibilities : Maintain regular contact with the scheduler, providing updates on the status of current jobs and receiving new assignments. Perform work on equipment with minimal supervision, maintaining the quality and quantity of work by actively listening, asking appropriate questions, and completing assignments.
- Travel Coordination and Planning : Utilize provided tools to consistently make travel arrangements in accordance with company policies, prioritizing cost-effectiveness and time efficiency. Keep service team members and customers informed of scheduled visit arrival times, including arrangements for accommodations, transportation, and flights.
- Customer Training and Support : Conduct training sessions for customers on equipment safety, maintenance procedures, and parts ordering. Provide customers with the contact information of the service team for future service and parts needs, ensuring their comfort and familiarity with operational and safety procedures.
- Documentation and Reporting Duties : Complete service documentation for repairs made during service calls and promptly submit related trip expenses. Ensure all reports are accurate, complete, and submitted within 24 hours of job completion, including weekly expense reports and timesheets. Handle all expenses incurred in a cost-effective manner.
Requirements
- Education: Possession of an Associate degree or equivalent technical school diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering or a similar discipline is preferred.
- Field Service Experience: Demonstrated experience traveling as a field service technician or in a similar role is essential. Candidates must have a proven track record of efficiently and effectively performing both installations and troubleshooting tasks.
- Electrical Knowledge: Candidates must have a strong understanding of electrical principles, including Ohm's Law, proficient multimeter usage, and a working knowledge of AC/DC currents. It is necessary to have proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and circuit diagrams in order to successfully troubleshoot complex machinery.
- Mechanical Knowledge: A solid mechanical background is required, including the ability to accurately interpret drawings, schematics, and manuals to identify issues. Candidates should have experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical problems, conducting mechanical repairs, and possess strong mathematics abilities. Previous experience in a machine shop environment is highly desirable.
- Independent Work: The ability to work independently in unsupervised settings is crucial for this role. Candidates should be capable of efficiently coordinating travel details, communicating effectively with team members, and providing professional and polished customer support throughout service engagements.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and machine shop skills is required. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of mechanical aptitude and possess the ability to prevent malfunctions through proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.
