Job description
Are you looking for an opportunity to intern at a great organization this summer? Kamatics Corporation in Bloomfield, CT is looking for several interns in a variety of disciplines to join their team to experience an environment enriched with collaboration and learning. The internship will include a strong on-boarding program, provide opportunities for professional growth with challenging assignments, an opportunity to give back to the community with a volunteer day, and will encourage interns to participate in a collaborative project with their intern peers.
Individuals that are motivated, and dependable seeking to work in a fast-paced environment, will be an ideal fit for Kamatics. The internship is intended for the summer months and will last approximately 10 to 12 weeks, working 40 hours a week Monday through Friday. Work hours may be flexible.
The Quality Intern will assist with a handful of projects in various areas of quality including Quality Control, Compliance and Supplier Quality. There will be additional opportunities to support the different areas in day to day activities which may include items below:
- Support SPC implementation at point of use. Review procedures/methods to analyze data, evaluating machine/process capability and identify opportunities.
- Work pro-actively to prevent non-conformances and reduce product variation through standard measurement plans, implementation of advanced gaging and sampling methodology. Evaluate effectiveness via statistical analysis.
- Identify new gaging and inspection strategies, improving inspection efficiency and throughput.
- Participate in root cause investigations on any internal or external non-conformances. This may include 8D, 5 Why, DOE, or other similar methodologies to find the true root cause of problem.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineers, Team Leaders, and Value Stream Managers to implement effective corrective actions addressing process deficiencies.
- Exposure to advanced gaging systems including CMM machines/programs.
- Use experience related to machining processes (multi-axis machines, grinders, CNC type of lathes and milling machines, and bagging equipment) combined with quality & B\P requirements to make recommendations to improve processes.
- Draft and update ISO procedures as needed.
- Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.
- Make continuous improvement recommendations.
- Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment. Work and communicate effectively between various departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Participates in training/learning other positions. Accomplishes related results as needed.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing or related field.
Experience:
- Entry level position. Related internships or co-ops are a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., walk for distances including use of stairs, wear steel-toe shoes, safety glasses and other personal protective equipment as required. Work with and around machinery, chemicals, heat, and cold.
