Job Summary:

The Department of Housing and Residence Life is accepting applications for a live-on staff member.  The Area Coordinator facilitates and assists in creating a community environment within the residential facilities that promotes and supports residents' personal and academic success consistent with the mission and values of the University.

The job duties and responsibilities of the Area Coordinator include:

• Providing on-campus management and supervision in a designated residential community, including implementing effective management and administrative task strategies in the day-to-day operation of the residence halls.
• Assists with recruiting, selecting, mentoring, training, supervising, and evaluating residence life staff.
• Participates in the Area Coordinator/Apartments Manager on-call duty rotation, assuming associated responsibilities and duties; including being available for extended workdays, weekends, and holiday duties. Responds to emergencies and crises as needed.
• Assists with behavioral management issues, including holding disciplinary meetings with residents.
• Assists with developing, implementing, and evaluating DHRL initiatives such as the Residential Curriculum, Living-Learning Communities, programs, services, policies, procedures, management, marketing, summer camps & conferences, etc.
• Conducts other duties as assigned by the position supervisor, the Associate Director for Residence Life.

The Fair Labor Standards Act status of exempt or non-exempt will depend on the incumbent's entry salary for this position.

• Bachelor's degree
• Two years experience in higher education (experience in the areas of student life and enrollment, student activities at the graduate or undergraduate level including part-time may be considered).
• This position lives on campus and must be able to respond to emergency situations and events in all areas of campus facilities.
