Spinnaker’s TV General Manager is ultimately responsible for overseeing Spinnaker TV’s YouTube channel and the day-to-day management of the Spinnaker TV studio. The TV General Manager actively seeks to stay current on industry standards and seeks professional counsel when appropriate. The TV General Manager should aspire to excellence in college television programming; this includes (a) regularly scheduled news and formatted programs, (b) opportunities for students to produce specialty shows, c) free-form shows that offer students the freedom for experimentation and exploration, that serves the widest possible segments of UNF students, and (d) live remote productions.

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The employee may be asked to perform other related duties as required to meet Spinnaker’s ongoing needs. Employees must meet the responsibilities and qualifications of the position consistent with a minimum of 20 hours of competent effort each week. The TV General Manager must:

Required Qualifications

Must be a current UNF student.

This position requires a strong understanding of the foundational principles of broadcast journalism and storytelling, a firm understanding of the technical and legal/ethical issues of running a television station, and good leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. See Spinnaker Media Advisory Board bylaws for additional requirements.

Must be continuously enrolled at UNF for the duration of the position and not be on academic probation or suspension as defined by the most recent University of North Florida course catalog.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with production equipment is preferred.
