Davis Behavioral Health

Location

Layton, UT | United States

Job description

Job Description

Davis Behavioral Health, Inc. is committed to being a vital part of the community. One way through which DBH has been able to assist members of the community is to provide internship and practicum opportunities for students in Social Work programs at accredited universities. DBH is an approved placement site for several colleges and universities, including, but not limited to Weber State University, University of Utah, Utah State University, and Boise State University.

Internship/Practicum/Preceptorship Opportunities

DBH is an approved field site for the following programs:

  1. Bachelor's of Social Work (BSW)
  2. Master's of Social Worker (MSW)
  3. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

DBH is also an approved placement site for psychiatry residents for the University of Utah and A.T. Still University.

Competitive Placement

Practicum/internship opportunities at DBH are competitive so that we can not only provide the highest quality educational experience to our interns, but also ensure that they are a good fit for DBH as the agency historically offers employment to many interns upon graduation. The number of slots is determined by the clinical leadership team each year, including the ability to provide 1st-year MSW placements, based on the availability of field supervisors at DBH related to their primary job functions and other assigned tasks.

Due to the limited spots, DBH currently does not accept interns from any other program, including high school students.

Student Requirements

Students are required to provide DBH with all of the contact information for the practicum advisor at your academic institution so that we can determine if we are able to meet the requirements as both an agency and that our staff are able to meet the requirements and obligations to be a field supervisor.

Classification

Student interns working at DBH for a period longer than 4 weeks are classified as non-exempt employees.

Psychiatry residents are classified as contractors since they are compensated through the academic institutions they are studying at.

Internship and preceptorship placements of 4 weeks or less are classified as volunteers and are not compensated.

Schedule

DBH restricts internship opportunities to Monday through Friday with extremely limited evening hours available due to supervision requirements.

Compensation

All interns placed at DBH are paid, without exception. To prevent unequal practices at DBH, the inability of a student to receive compensation as a student will likely impact the ability to be placed at DBH.
