Job description
The Electro-Optical / Infrared (EO/IR) Systems Business Unit within Meta Materials Inc. (META) is looking for a Head of Business Development to lead the introduction to market and sales of ground-breaking gigapixel imaging sensor systems. The Wide Area Motion Imagery (WAMI) airborne sensor system product provides large area video coverage to monitor city-size areas, with high resolution to discern the movement of vehicle and people-sized objects. The WAMI hardware and software product is being marketed domestically and internationally for defense, security, and novel commercial applications. The EO/IR Systems Business Unit is one of multiple Business Units within META, a high-tech publicly-traded company developing a range of innovative material and system products
We are seeking a motivated individual with proven experience cultivating and shaping close customer and partner relationships that generate product sales and sustainable long-term growth. This represents an opportunity to shape a growing business in its early stages with large upside potential. The EO/IR product team is highly enthusiastic and extremely experienced in this domain. Reporting directly to the EO-IR Business Unit lead, this leadership position has a wide range of duties and responsibilities.
Some of the typical responsibilities will include:
- Build relationships with customers, suppliers, distributors, partners, and vendors.
- Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities to sales.
- Manage key customer relationships and works to build new ones.
- Lead planning and monitoring of business development and marketing campaigns to achieve maximum customer and market penetration.
- Work with customers and the product team to shape customer-focused solutions, create new stakeholder relationships, and expand product offerings and deliverables.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or related fields (STEM fields are also suitable in some cases).
- 10+ years of international sales and marketing experience, with >$5M in product sales per year.
- Knowledge of imaging sensor system products and business sectors.
- Demonstrated business development experience marketing and selling products for markets involving military and/or commercial sensors, systems, and hardware.
- Lead generation and relationship management experience.
Preferred qualifications:
- Demonstrated business development and sales experience with sensor system hardware and software products, with > $20M in product sales per year.
- Demonstrated business development experience marketing and selling products in one or more of the following markets:
- Military and/or Commercial airborne remote sensing systems
- Military and/or Commercial ground imaging systems
- Demonstrated track record of successful business deals with the US DoD and/or US DoD prime contractors.
