Job Description: Giner battery research focuses on a wide range of next generation, beyond Li-ion chemistries. The Project Scientist/Engineer will contribute to all aspects of battery research, working closely with the team to design and carry out experiments. The nature of the work combines technical knowledge and creative problem solving to meet program goals and milestones. This includes experimental design and analysis, fabrication of materials and battery cells as well as testing and analysis of results, material characterization, and failure analysis characterization . Special focus includes translation of technology from lab scale to pilot scale. Project Scientists/Engineers will lead communication of research goals, progress, results and conclusions both internally and externally through technical reports and presentations, with strong oral and written communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Day to day performance and management of lab work, including materials development, cell building and testing, working in a glovebox and with metal anode cells.
- Carry out design of experiment matrices to improve electrochemical cell performance and cycle life.
- Perform and interpret postmortem analysis using a wide range of characterization techniques.
- Interact with customers through reports, presentations, and deliverables.
- Contribute expertise and bring fresh approaches and skills to complement the existing team.
- Contribute to grant writing.
Additional Desired Qualifications - Experience in solid-state batteries.
- Experience in fabrication and testing of prototype pouch cells.
- Experience in scale-up of battery technology from lab-scale fabrication to pilot scale production (e.g., roll-to-roll and other high throughput methods).
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, or protected veteran status.
