General Summary

The Graduate Assistant for the Admissions Welcome Center will serve as part of the Admissions Team and participate in every aspect of the overall recruitment effort for the University. We work together to recruit for undergraduate admissions (first-year, transfer, and international student populations). This position will primarily assist the Admissions Welcome Center staff and efforts, including event planning, staff supervision, and recruitment. This position will require evening and weekend hours and may require travel.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in daily operations of the Admissions Welcome Center. This could be included
but not limited to:

• Work with supervisor, Associate Director, Admissions Visits, & Events to supervise and support student employees in a designated area.
• Participate with the Associate Director and coordinate admission recruiting events (e.g., Open Houses, Admitted Receptions, etc.).
• Manage the group visit program in collaboration with the Community Outreach Coordinator.
  Work with the student coordinator team with hiring, training, and providing professional development to the team as needed.
• Assist with Admissions Undergraduate Recruitment team efforts as needed. This may
  include, but is not limited to:
• Visit secondary schools and community colleges to meet with counselors and teaching staff, students, and administrators regarding
• Eastern Michigan University's features and benefits for college-bound students.
• Make regular University presentations to prospective students, parents, and administrators on and off campus.
• Represent EMU at recruitment events in the Midwest (may include trips in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and surrounding areas).
• This position will assist with the Associate Director's recruitment territories.
• Adhere to all NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
• Adhere to admissions policies and procedures to ensure that all students and guests have a positive experience with the university
• Meet with prospective students and parents and inform them of University Admissions policies, procedures, academic programs,
• cost of attendance, and all other matters related to choosing a college.
• Perform additional related departmental duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• The ability to work up to 20 hours per week is required (Hybrid Availability)
• A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred
• Admission and enrollment in a graduate program is required
• Maintenance of a 67% course completion is required
• Enrollment in at least 6 credits for Fall and Winter semesters is required
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality in all forms of communication, complying with FERPA, university, and Dean Of Students Office Guidelines.
