- Develops, implements and monitors quality policies and procedures for manufacturing.
- Analyzes quality data and proactively makes recommendations to drive continuous improvement.
- Provides analysis of product returns/customer complaints and communicates with customers to determine product or manufacturing changes necessary to maintain or improve product quality.
- Implements changes as needed to drive improvement and follows up with data analysis to validate improvements.
- Serves as the ISO Management representative.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of procedures to maintain and improve product quality. Serves as the Management Representative for Quality in assuring compliance with ISO, and other regulatory organizations.
- Drives change and process improvement projects/programs in the plant focusing on issues that affect product quality. These changes can include, but are not limited to, processes, products, and/or information processes. Reviews the QMS program performance to ensure its continuing suitability and effectiveness I meeting ISO requirements.
- Reports periodically to plant management on effectiveness of QMS and prepares the minutes and action items of the Management/Business Review meetings.
- Provides training and guidance to Supervisors and Team Leads on their responsibilities to the QMS.
- Develops product specifications within the capabilities of production equipment and customer requirements. If there is a discontinuity, works with other departments to alleviate problem.
- Tracks quality issues, reports problem areas and develops solutions for problem solving.
- Provides statistical analysis of physical properties to ensure product stability and consistency. Report any changes in physical and visual properties of products affecting the overall compliance to specifications.
- Devises and implements test methods that provide more consistent product quality.
- Monitors customer complaints using the Consumer Experience database. Notifies and provides solutions on problem causes.
- Oversees the internal quality rejection database (NCMR) and reports trends in quality defects.
- Tracks and controls customer return authorizations.
- Supervises lab technicians and other QA personnel to ensure that production quality is consistent.
- Recommends process changes to enhance the production process.
- Acts as one of the root cause analysis champions for the plant, working with employees and teams to make sure they are using sound problem-solving methods to uncover the true root cause of issues.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
Education: Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a 4-year degree in Engineering, or other related technical science degree is desired but not required. In lieu of education or certification 7-10 years directly related quality experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: In addition to the educational requirements 4-7 years of experience in quality related field in a manufacturing environment with 2-3 years of that time being spent in a lead or supervisory role.
