Job description

Position Overview:

The Associate Director of Strategic Advancement & Stewardship, Student Experience & Diversity (SED), based in Northern California with occasional travel to campus, is a key leadership position within our team. We are seeking a dynamic individual with a strong background in major gift fundraising to drive strategic initiatives in partnership with campus leadership. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of SED, this role encompasses leadership in stewardship, donor relations, and fundraising strategy development.

Responsibilities:

Prospect Advancement:
- Lead analytical and strategic initiatives to support SED's fundraising goals, utilizing advanced fundraising concepts and best practices.
- Create custom fundraising materials to facilitate donor engagement, including proposals and briefings for senior campus leadership.
- Shepherd the fundraising process by crafting solicitation materials, stewardship reports, presentations, and other communications.
- Conduct prospect research to inform fundraising strategies and donor engagement activities.

Stewardship Program Leadership:
- Provide strategic guidance to develop and implement comprehensive stewardship plans for SED prospects and donors.
- Oversee the production of stewardship materials and donor engagement events in collaboration with UDAR partners.
- Serve as a liaison between SED and other UDAR units to coordinate stewardship efforts and maximize donor impact.
- Manage data and digital records to ensure accurate donor records and effective solicitation strategies.

Management & Team Leadership:
- Supervise the Assistant Director of Strategic Advancement & Stewardship, SED, and provide support to the Executive Director and Deputy Director of SED.
- Collaborate with team members to prioritize fundraising initiatives and streamline workflow processes.
- Assist in preparing fundraising strategy meetings and providing strategic guidance on donor engagement activities.

Reporting & Project Management:
- Generate fundraising overview reports for divisional leadership and contribute to future fundraising projects.
- Coordinate with executive leadership to ensure effective project management and team coordination.

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum 3 years of experience in advanced analytical thinking and fundraising strategy development.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in fundraising and donor relations.
- Excellent writing and research skills with the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in relational databases and relevant software.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with the campus and its strategic priorities.


Salary & Benefits:

The budgeted salary range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience. The position is eligible for full UC benefits and offers remote work flexibility with some in-person meetings required.
