Job description
POSITION GOAL:
To provide the highest quality care and supervision to students at the Broward County School System by providing classroom support to enhance the instructional process. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Classroom Assistant, K-12/Exceptional Student Education (ESE) shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below. • Under teacher direction, provide classroom support by interacting with students to assist in maintaining a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning. • Under the direction of a teacher or administrator, assume responsibility for the safety and welfare of students by supervising and escorting students throughout the school, as required. • Under teacher direction, provide classroom support by providing aide in implementing the programs developed by the teacher to reach educational objectives. • Provide classroom-related clerical support, as required. • Provide teacher assistance when utilizing media center facilities by accessing shelved material, running of audio-visual equipment, and other assigned duties as might be part of the instructional program. • Prepare and use instructional materials and teaching aids under the direction of a certified teacher. • Under teacher direction, provide classroom support by assisting students with teacher-planned activities PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: • An earned associate degree from an accredited institution, OR at least 60 semester hours of earned college credit from an accredited institution. • Prior experience working with children. • Bilingual skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: • Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. • The ability to interact and communicate effectively with children. • Computer skills required as needed for the position. Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $18.82 per hour Calendar: 187B New Hires will be hired at the minimum of the assigned hourly range Please Note: All candidates offered a position at the School Board of Broward County are subject to a national pre-employment background check.
