Salary Range: $72,353-$101,294

Qualifications:
1. Must have prior Law Enforcement or Related Security Experience or Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, or Psychology.
2. Five or more years' experience in security and safety related work.
3. Experience in urban settings with youth, supervision, and administration background.
4. Satisfactory work record & criminal/child abuse clearances (Acts 34, 114, and 151). 5. Such additional or alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may determine appropriate and acceptable.

Summary
Under the direction of the Director, Safety and Security works to establish safety protocols, policy, and operational standards. The Assistant Director will assume the responsibilities of the Director of Safety and Security in that person's absence. Patrols district buildings, protects individuals and controls crowds during assemblies or disturbances, as well as supervises personnel engaged in the same activities. The position investigates and prepares written reports on accidents, property damage, fires, law violations, thefts, and disturbances, reviews the reports of subordinates and assumes responsibility for follow-up. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assumes the responsibilities of the Director of Safety and Security in that person's absence as well as assumes administrative responsibility for the daily operations in the absence of other administrators.
2. Supervises and evaluates safety and security staff in the performance of their duties.
3. In conjunction with the Director of Safety and Security, ensures that safety and security personnel are at the assigned work locations are scheduled to provide the best possible service to the district community.
4. Works with district administration regarding special events, policy, emergency procedures, and all other district safety related activities.
5. Develops strategy to manage district traffic at special events, as well as during the academic year. Reports traffic and parking conditions according to established procedures.
6. Investigates crimes and other incidents occurring on campus. Prepares crime or incident reports as required. Gathers evidence, interviews witnesses, and testifies in court as necessary. Reviews the reports of subordinates and responds to recommendations found in those reports.
7. Investigates and reports presence of unauthorized persons on grounds or in buildings; deals with disturbances according to established policy. Locks and unlocks buildings and offices as needed.
8. Develops crime prevention activities; enforces district policies and procedures and reports violations of laws, traffic regulations and safety regulations according to established policy.
9. Provides leadership to the district emergency preparedness efforts, maintains campus emergency supplies, and responds to emergency situations as appropriate.
10. Conducts district safety related workshops as appropriate.
11. Patrols district property on foot, bicycle, cart or vehicle and answers calls to protect district students, faculty and protects district property and facilities against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
12. Responds to alarms and radio calls.
13. Investigates unusual or potentially dangerous facility conditions; reports detected leaks or malfunctions of electric, plumbing, heating or other equipment; notifies appropriate persons regarding impaired equipment; takes appropriate emergency action.
14. Supervises the evacuation of classrooms and buildings in emergency situations as necessary.
15. Assumes a leadership role in an emergency incident command structure.
16. Receives complaints and requests for assistance from students, visitors or district personnel.
17. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with students and others; provides information and direction to the public as appropriate.
18. Escorts district personnel as requested.
19. Assumes responsibility for the exchange of information with other district personnel and departments and various public safety and law enforcement agencies.
20. Operates a variety of security tools and equipment including radio equipment, cctv, first aid/AED, and vehicles.
21. Performs other related duties as assigned.
