Job Summary:
The Orthopedic Total Joint Replacement, Co-Management and Orthopedic Co-Care Program Manager is responsible to assure that Upstate University Hospital meets the standards set forth by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and compliance with all regulatory agencies. The Orthopedic Program Manager (OPM) is fundamental to the development, implementation, and evaluation of an accredited Orthopedic surgical program. This position is responsible for the organizational quality of services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care for patients with specific Orthopedic surgical needs. The OPM develops the program budget, staffing requirements and ensures the program meets its stated objectives for successful DNV Hip and Knee accreditation. This individual will analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. The OPM will work collaboratively to establish a mutually supportive relationship to oversee all the activities of the Orthopedic surgical accreditation programs. Additionally, the individual will organize and coordinate Orthopedic Surgical Quality Program initiatives to include Pre-Admission Testing, Surgery Center, Periop staff, 6 Ortho, Anesthesia, PM&R, Managers and Social Work to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to the management of Orthopedic surgery patients and achieve/maintain the DNV Accreditation with the American College of Surgeons, with a focus on optimal patient care and performance improvement. The OPM develops and implements a performance improvement program for Orthopedic surgical services that includes guideline development, process assessment, process correction and monitoring for improvement in preparation for and subsequent to any accreditation cycles.

Minimum Qualifications:
NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Three years of RN post licensure acute care experience required. CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment. Demonstrated success in quality initiatives required. Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills required. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Nursing preferred. Specialty certification in Orthopedic Nursing preferred. Experience caring for Orthopedic surgical patients preferred. One year supervisory experience preferred.
