  1. PURPOSE
    1. The main role of a Buyer, at SBI Manufacturing is critical for ensuring a reliable supply of materials, controlling costs, and maintaining product quality to support the efficient operation of the manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing materials, production processes, and supply chain management.
  2. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
    1. A Buyer reports to the Supply Chain Manager of the company.
  3. REQUIREMENTS
    1. Requires a combined 3 years of experience working in purchasing or similar position.
    2. Requires a high school diploma or GED.
    3. Must be able to understand and use purchasing data to negotiate prices and long-term deals with vendors. 
    4. Must be able to work with the Sales Manager, Production Manager, and Engineering Manager to develop short- and long-range schedules.
    5. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    6. Must be computer literate. 
    7. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
    8. Great time management skills
    9. Great organization skills
    10. Excellent negotiator
  4. WORKING CONDITIONS
    1. Will work in a climate-controlled enclosed office with Moderate Noise levels.  Workdays will be a typical 8 hours per workday or 40 hours per week.
  5. DUTIES AND TASKS
    1. Vendor Management:
      • Identify and qualify reliable suppliers of metal materials, components, and equipment.
      • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery and competitive pricing.
      • Evaluate supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
    2. Sourcing and Procurement:
      • Research and analyze market trends, prices, and availability of metal materials and products.
      • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
      • Generate purchase orders and coordinate delivery schedules to meet production requirements.
    3. Inventory Control
      • Monitor inventory levels of metal materials and supplies to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
      • Collaborate with production and scheduling teams to forecast demand and ensure adequate inventory levels.
    4. Quality Assurance :
      • Work closely with the quality department to ensure that purchased materials meet required specifications and standards.
      • Address any quality issues or discrepancies with suppliers to maintain product quality and consistency.
    5. Documentation and Reporting :
      • Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, including contracts, pricing, and supplier information.
      • Prepare reports and analysis on purchasing trends, cost savings initiatives, and supplier performance metrics.
