Position Summary/Description:

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy.

The Office of University Counsel represents the University and provides legal advice and counsel to the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor, the administration, faculty, and staff on legal matters affecting the institution. We engage with the University on a broad range of initiatives, issues, policy matters, and program implementation.

This position primarily supports the Vice Chancellor for the Office of University Counsel and an additional 3-4 attorneys as a member of a collaborative and supportive team of administrative staff serving the entire department. It also serves as a backup for the Business Services Coordinators (BSCs), when necessary, and can provide a full range of executive support services for other attorneys within the unit.

Reporting to the Director of Legal Operations and Strategy, this professional is an initial point of contact for telephone calls, greeting, referring, and assisting visitors and staff with essential office functions. They manage calendar scheduling, mail, correspondence, document review, filings, purchasing and requisition of supplies and services for the office, attorney registrations, conferences, renewals, travel, and event planning. With supervision, they manage financial transactions, including tracking pcard purchases, submitting receipts, creating vouchers, and maintaining vendor contract relations. Along with other key employees, this individual will support the office in communication with the building owner as to service, deliveries, pick-ups, parking, and general notifications to tenants.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate's degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
