Utilization Review Supervisor

Job Summary

The Utilization Review Supervisor works closely with the Direct of UR to ensure optimum department functioning, while providing assistance to our staff. Acts as Department Manager during the director's absence. In addition to the supervisory responsibilities, this position is responsible for the implementation of case management scenarios, consulting with all services to ensure the provision of an effective treatment plan for all patients. Responds to requests for services and interfaces with managed care organizations, external reviewers and other payers. Assures good customer service practices are utilized. Maintains denials and appeals logs and reviews the progress of all appeal activity.

Job Requirements

Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing, social work, mental health, behavioral sciences or related field is required. A bachelor degree is preferred.

Professional License: RN, LPN, PC or LSW license is required

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric setting or mental health treatment setting is required. Experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning and communication with external review organization or comparable entities.

Working Environment: Typical office setting

This individual must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Diplomacy and discretion are essential, as well as excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects. Professional demeanor and appearance required.
