Job description
We are looking for fun, friendly, and enthusiastic coaches to join our summer team: Mavericks! As a youth swim coach, you will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction, motivating and encouraging young swimmers, and creating a positive and inclusive team environment. Flexibility and adaptability are key as you'll be working with swimmers of different ages and skill levels. If you're a passionate swimmer and team player who enjoys helping young athletes reach their full potential, this could be the perfect summer job for you!
Please note, camp shifts are week-long sessions, so you must be able to commit to the same shift Monday-Friday. Some flexibility may be provided for afternoon Mavericks Team coaches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to coach proper swimming technique in a safe, positive and encouraging manner to various levels and age groups
- Observes swimmers during practice to teach and correct mistakes, demonstrating skills as needed
- Attend local travel meets and social events for the Mavericks Team
- Engage participants in a challenging, but fun and friendly environment
- Responsible for set-up and clean-up of practice areas
- Excellent communication skills with children and adults
- Attend staff and training meetings as required
- Ability to create and adapt swim sets and workouts for different ages and skill levels
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must complete training prior to the start of summer season
- Must be able to commit to at least 6 weeks of Mavericks Camp and/or Mavericks Team
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be punctual, responsible, and maintain a positive attitude
- Self-motivated to perform tasks with minimal oversight
- Must be an effective communicator, with students and parents as appropriate
- Experience working with children in creating a positive environment for their development is a plus
- Competitive swim experience or coach experience preferred
- CPR/First-Aid/Lifeguard Certification preferred (not required)
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
