Head of In-Direct Procurement
Reports to: Head of Procurement
Location: Cary, NC
Direct Reports: 4-6
Leading the planning and execution of key procurement strategies across the In-directs categories (ie IT, HR, Fleet, Marketing, Professional Services). Ensure effective use of budgets in the spend areas of responsibility and continue to drive savings, value, and further efficiencies. Net contributor to EBIT and generator of savings to drive top line growth.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Lead in the ongoing development of the company-wide procurement category strategies, plan and execute against these strategies, and measure and monitor supplier and strategy performance. Partner with all levels of leadership cross-functionally to build impactful, efficient, and cost-effective business and vendor relationships. Take ownership of key spend areas, implementing controls and procedures to support, and driving cost conscious culture. Total spend responsibility is approximately $100M.
- Manage the 3rd party Procurement Managed Service provider.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop and manage sourcing and vendor management strategies across the In-direct spend categories to deliver value. Take full independent ownership for procurement across the Indirect functions:
- Partner with relevant stakeholders (both local and global) to fully leverage all opportunities from category spend
- Monitor and analyze trends and market conditions for the present and future pricing, availability and capacity of goods and services
- Monitor and analyze trends in company spending and make recommendations for future investments while identifying possible savings opportunities
- Prepare, lead and execute tenders
- Negotiate with vendors on matters of price, scope and performance, to secure best overall value to Company
- Contract with vendors in order to secure optimal terms and conditions in tandem with Legal
- Manage and develop vendors to drive value and innovation:
- Form strong relationships with vendor partners
- Lead vendor performance reviews
- Define apply and monitor commercial terms, SLAs, KPIs, etc.
- Lead resolution of any escalation of issues with vendors
- Oversee the completion of projects and enhancements related to the source to contract processes.
- Enforce adherence to global, regional or local standards, where applicable
- Identify opportunities for process improvements; oversee / implement these improvements as required
- Originate new concepts and innovative approaches for the organization
Key Working Relationships:
- Internal: IT, R&D, Finance, Marketing, Product Supply, HR
- External: 3rd Party Suppliers and Outsourcers
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Degree holder plus at least 7-10 years of experience with focus on Procurement Category and service delivery.
- Demonstrable track record of success in managing complex, cross-functional activities and developing/executing key procurement processes; Track record of leading organizational transformation in the context of Purchasing.
- Proven experience initiating process improvements,
- Be disruptive and challenge the status quo while mitigating risk.
- developing new standards and influencing stakeholders to adopt new commercial options
- Facilitates multi-disciplinary groups to reach conclusions by working collaboratively and influencing appropriately to meet goals and objectives
- Utilizes strengths of individuals in co-operative team working
- Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
- Proven in-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices
- Experience with procurement systems and familiarity with source to pay technical platforms
