Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

This is manual work at the journeyman level in the repair, maintenance, and installation of flashings. Work involves repairing, maintaining, and removing roofs. Assignments are received through oral instructions prior to and during the progress of a job. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion.

• Ability to be service oriented.
• Ability to complete work request, fill out work order forms, and work with others.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards of: Tools and equipment associated with maintenance activities and mechanical and electrical building equipment.
• Use of standard hand tools and equipment as common to the mechanical trades.

• Frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb stairs and work with hands above the head.
• Liift up to 50 lbs, load and unload necessary equipment
• Work from a standard and/or extended ladder.
• Perform necessary labor in adverse climate (hot, cold, and adverse weather conditions) throughout work shift (8 hour day/40 hour wk).
• Driving as needed to perform tasks.

Repair existing roofs.

Repair flashings around roof top, equipment curbs and penetrations.

Install flashings, curbs, roof insulation, felts, bitumen coatings. Apply cold process roof coatings and penetrations. Remove old roofs as needed.

Respond to calls about leaks during heavy rains. Determine roofing materials needed for repairs.

Seal and waterproof foundations. Erect rigging for roof access and material handling.
