Division and Unit Overview
The Human Resources Division is responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies and programs for the ACS. Human Resources provides operational and strategic resource support to all divisions with staffing, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compensation administration, training and organization development, and succession planning. The customer base is diverse, including current, former and potential employees, management business partners, American Chemical Society members, and outside vendors. The HR team directly serves over 700 Washington, DC affiliated employees and over 1,200 Columbus, Ohio affiliated employees. In addition to the Washington, DC and Columbus, Ohio locations, there are other locations in the United States as well as Great Britain and Asia.
The Senior Benefits Analyst reports to the Sr. Director Total Rewards and supports the development, maintenance, and administration of the organization’s benefit programs and policies. Responsibilities may include the assessment of competitive practices, tracking and reporting, annual enrollment, retirement plan administration, or the administration of executive/perquisite programs. Provides guidance to employees, managers, HR business partners and other stakeholders regarding eligibility, plan provisions, regulatory compliance and other matters related to benefit plans and programs and leaves of absence. Ensures organizational compliance with federal and state laws.
Work Design: Performs wide range of work assignments with minimal guidance and direction. Serves as a resource/coach to more junior staff. Is an expert in area of responsibility and leads projects and has accountability for ongoing objectives. Able to simplify complex analysis, to interpret results and recommend appropriate course of action.

Thi s position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, three days per week. ACS employees are in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday with the third in-office day scheduled in consultation with the manager. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other two days of the week from a location of their choice. New employees are immediately eligible for this hybrid work arrangement. ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.
