Job Summary:

The AGFC Internship program is designed to help students gain education and practical experience related to the conservation work AGFC performs and to meet hands-on training requirements necessary for students to earn their degree. This training is critical to students pursuing a conservation career and is often the deciding factor in gaining employment after college.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

This Internship will be based out of the Springdale Nature Center, but will spend an equal amount of time in the northwest region of four (4) counties. The main "project" for this internship will be to prepare, organize and lead fishing camps which are to be held in at least two counties. These camps are for youth age participants.

The intern will teach fish biology/anatomy, casting techniques & the difference between lures and baits. They will also take the camp participants fishing.  Full-time and part-time AGFC staff will assist with this project, but the intern will be responsible for preparing the outline and taking the lead. Additionally, the intern will help with classes held at the Nature Center like Archery and Paddling/Fishing which could also lead to him/her assisting with float trips.

Special Job Dimensions:

AGFC interns are paid $13.00 per hour and work approximately 40 hours per week (no more than 400 hours for 10 weeks).

Intern positions will be available through June, July, and August. Flexible work schedules can be established with your division supervisor.
