Job description
Main Function:
Health assessment, intervention, management and evaluation of resident care in conjunction and collaboration with nursing, staff, attending physicians, and ancillary staff. Perform all specific collaboration with the physician under established protocols in accordance with facility by law and their regulations of affiliated medical staff-certified nurse practitioner. Monitors infection control issues of resident care and provides direction.
Responsibilities:
Asses the health status of residents through record review, intervention, history and physical examination. Examine residents independently and with physician collaboration to provide health care and maintenance for acute and chronic adult illness. Independently and with physical collaboration determine appropriate treatment for presenting illness including prescribing medications, dietary change, exercise regimens, restrictions, and referral to specialized physicians or other health care providers. Present accumulated information to attending physician. Formulate definitive conclusions concerning the patient's status. Follow up of identified problems with written plan. Consult on Infection Control Issues.
Participate in daily assessment of each resident with appropriate nurse or attending physician.
Be responsible for acute changes in resident's condition.
Provide for resident teaching.
Serve as a teacher, resource person and role model for nursing staff.
Position Requirements:
Graduate from accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
A current certificate in NYS to practice as an adult practitioner
Current licensure as an RN in NYS
Experience in adult and geriatric nursing
Knowledge of current Infection Control Issues
