Job description
Position: Certified Nursing AssistantÂ
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Duration: 3 Months
Purpose of Position:
Under the direct supervision of a licensed Nurse or other professional medical staff in a healthcare setting, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) performs a variety of clerical and health-related duties associated with patient care. The CNA assists in providing physical care, monitoring patient vital signs, recording patient information, and participating in interdisciplinary healthcare team conferences.
Examples of Typical Tasks:
- Assist with the physical care of selected patients, including changing simple dressings, taking vital signs, and administering enemas. Record personal care activities accurately.
- Prepare patients for examination by performing tasks such as measuring temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, and other measurements. Assist in the examination process and document findings in patient charts.
- Observe patients' conditions, mental states, and social behavior. Report any observations to the appropriate medical staff.
- Participate in nursing and interdisciplinary health team conferences to assess patients' and families' needs and contribute to nursing care plans.
- Assist in recreational, remotivational, and resocialization activities as part of nursing care programs.
- Set up and arrange examining rooms for medical procedures.
- Assist with clinic admission procedures and regulate visitor access. Care for patients' clothing and personal belongings.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as necessary.
- Change bed linens and maintain cleanliness in wards, utility rooms, and treatment areas.
- Provide postmortem care with compassion and attention to detail.
Requirements:
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Nursing Home setting
- Ability to perform tasks associated with patient care under supervision
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain patient records accurately
- Compassionate and empathetic demeanor when providing care to patients
