Source Pro Search is conducting a search for a Lead Analyst in Tax Recovery Services . Position Overview: As the Lead Analyst, you will oversee data reviews and discovery efforts for local government clients, focusing on timely and thorough reviews of California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) local sales and use tax data. This role is crucial for revenue recovery and enhancement. Reporting to the Associate Director of Tax Recovery Services, the Lead Analyst will not only perform hands-on analysis but also provide technical support and quality control for junior analysts, contributing to the expansion of current programs and methodologies. Job Responsibilities: Manage a team of 3-4 Sales & Use Tax Specialists, including task prioritization and quality control. Ensure accountability for timely and thorough reviews of CDTFA local sales and use tax data, setting goals and conducting regular performance evaluations. Improve and expand current methodologies for auditing sales & use tax allocations, collaborating with the Software Development Team for new analytical tools and processes. Build rapport with CDTFA staff investigating recovery claims, maintaining an open and productive dialogue. Analyze data to isolate errors and identify opportunities for local government clients. Lead by example, demonstrating initiative, a strong work ethic, and commitment to core values. Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new team members when necessary. Skills and Qualifications: Experience with State and Local Tax (SALT) administration, reporting, and auditing. Proficient in tax research and collaboration with tax professionals. Strong research and analytical skills in handling large sets of data. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with high-level management and accounting personnel. Leadership abilities, including team management and effective task prioritization. Strong computer skills, familiarity with sales and property tax applications, Microsoft Office; SQL experience desirable. Open-minded, receptive to feedback, maintains a humble and approachable demeanor. Actively seeks opportunities for ongoing personal and professional development. Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field. At least 3 years of related experience in tax recovery and/or detailed analytics.
