Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology

The Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology is a team-science based Interdisciplinary Research Institute at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. The mission of the IGB is to advance life science research at the University, meaningfully engage with the public to share the impact of genomic research, and to stimulate bio-economic development in the state of Illinois.

Job Summary
The Research Scientist will translate approaches for improving legume canopy photosynthesis to cowpea. Using translational genomics and gene editing, the incumbent will identify novel genes for altering canopy architecture and test those in planta.
Duties & Responsibilities





Additional Physical Demands
Position will entail laboratory and field research.

Minimum Qualifications


PhD in Plant Science or related field. Specific research experience in plant genetics, plant breeding and plant molecular biology; documented publication record in top disciplinary journals.



Preferred Qualifications


5 years of post-doctoral experience in plant science, plant breeding or phenotyping. Experience supervising undergraduate students.

Appointment Information


This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 2/16/2024. The minimum salary for this position is $55,000 per year.
