JOB TITLE:                                         Child Advocacy Center Coordinator

POSITION STATUS:                           Regular, Full Time

EXEMPT STATUS:                              Non-Exempt

PAY SCALE GRADE:                         12-13-14

REPORTS TO:                                     CAC Manager

 

The CAC is a child-friendly and culturally appropriate center for the investigation of child sexual abuse. The CAC Specialist coordinates many activities related to the Child Advocacy Center (CAC). The CAC Specialist must be willing to work with children and people of all ages that have experienced physical or sexual abuse, witnessed or experienced domestic violence, severe or medical neglect, and/or have been exposed to drugs.

 

BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with MDT and other community partners to identify needs and determine how to provide outreach or services to those affected by child abuse.
  2. Attend Alaska Child First Forensic Interviewer training. Conduct forensic interviews and provide information from the interviews to multi-disciplinary team members. Enter interview information into NCATrak
  3. Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and provide input in case review meetings based on training and experience and contact with specific clients.. Maintain the MDT meeting calendar, schedule meetings and notify members.
  4. Handle daily CAC administrative duties such as answering telephones, screening calls and scheduling the use of CAC for case evaluations, generally maintaining files and records, and providing support to CAC Manager.
  5. Responsible for keeping all demographic, statistical material and other documentation that will assist in the development of CAC strategic plans and grant writing. Information regarding cases will be entered into NCATrak.
  6. Responsible for case management and tracking, which includes regular contact with appropriate MDT members and providing service referrals in conjunction with the Client Advocate.
  7. Cross-train with Client Advocates and be willing to provide advocacy services if needed.
  8. Participate in continuing education, advanced interview training, and peer review to maintain forensic interviewer certification.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the CAC Manager or Director.

 

QUALIFICIATIONS                                                            

  1. AA degree in Human Services field, or two years of responsible work experience in comparable field. Willingness to attend professional development courses required for the position.
  2. Experience with administrative duties including interaction with the public and with agency representatives.
  3. Ability to maintain client confidentiality
  4. Ability to work well with the public and with individuals of varied cultural backgrounds and age groups who may have experienced physical or sexual abuse
  5. Computer and office skills required. Must possess knowledge and skills in Internet usage and Microsoft Office software.
  6. Must be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  7. This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act AS 47.05.310-47.05.390, 7 AAC 10.900-10.990, and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 USC 3201-3211 (ICPA).    A background check clearance is required, including fingerprints, and the employee’s name will be submitted to the Background Check Unit of the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and entered into their central registry.  Barrier Crimes Act and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
  8. Must be willing and able to travel.
