Responsibilities St Bernardine Medical Center is hiring a Speech Therapist Pathologist to join our highly successful and growing team! We hire people who share our vision, work diligently, and provide care that will help improve our patient’s lives. You will have the ability to work with Adults and pediatrics.
Duties:
- Evaluate the patient’s speech, language, and/or cognitive abilities and deficits and assess and evaluate the patient’s level of function.
- Plan and provide rehabilitation services for speech and language disorders.
- Assist in developing and updating the plan of treatment.
- Provide assessment and treatment of cognitive and swallowing disorders.
- Select and administer diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and materials for patient evaluation and treatment purposes.
- Supports the department's customer service and performance improvement goals; collaborates with other caregivers/ staff, within and outside the department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and services.
- Competency for Modified Barium Swallow studies
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous experience as an SLP. Experience in health care services is highly desirable.
Education:
- Masters's Degree or higher in speech-language pathology from an educational institution approved by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board.
- Academic curriculum will include coursework on growth and development gerontology and therapeutic procedures for pediatric, adolescent adult and geriatric populations.
- New applicants must present documentation of continuing education or experience. Upon annual appraisal, must demonstrate participation in external continuing education.
- NDT adult or pediatric certification or other age-specific continuing education courses are preferred for treatment of neonatal and pediatric populations.
Licensure:
- Current licensure in the state of California.
- Recent graduates who are board-eligible will be considered for provisional appointments.
- Certification through ASHA for CCCs.
- Must maintain current CPR.
