Description and Functions Open Until Filled GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Wyoming State Library has an opening for a Resource Sharing Librarian with the skills necessary to coordinate and support statewide resource-sharing projects for the 105 member libraries in the WYLD consortium. The Resource Sharing Librarian reports directly to the WYLD ILS Program Manager and supports library staff using the ILS and the statewide shared catalog by responding to inquiries related to interlibrary loans, holds management, and related processes. The position may assist library staff using the ILS in other areas as needed. This position is perfect for the candidate who: - Has experience using Integrated Library Systems and Library Services Platforms with an emphasis on resource sharing.

- Can creatively solve problems and negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner.
- Can multitask, prioritize, and demonstrate innovation and flexibility.
- Is comfortable providing training using a variety of methods for users with varying levels of technical expertise.
The Wyoming State Library is located on the high plains in the state capital of Cheyenne near world-class outdoor recreation with an average of 250 sunny days a year. Employment with the State of Wyoming includes a generous benefits package - Human Resource Contact: Lanae McDonald / 307-777-6798 / [email protected] ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level. - Provides support and training for library staff throughout Wyoming and maintains documentation related to best practices for interlibrary loans.
- Test new functionality and troubleshoot issues with interlibrary loans as related to the WYLDcat statewide online catalog.
- Uses reporting tools to perform data collection and analysis related to shared lending, and distribute findings to library staff statewide.
- Acts as a liaison with OCLC to maintain holdings information for Wyoming Libraries in WorldCat and manages the WorldCat Registry to ensure accurate information related to Wyoming libraries.
- Maintains awareness of initiatives related to interlibrary loans through participation in resource-sharing communities and by taking part in educational events and conferences related to resource-sharing.
- Maintains awareness of interlibrary loan software developments both from proprietary vendors and open-source projects.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
- Master's in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
- At least two years of post-MLS professional-level work in a library, including experience with interlibrary loan platforms.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people with varying levels of technical skills, as well as the ability to make technology understandable to the library community.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and independently.
- Familiarity with library technology standards and protocols such as AACR2, MARC, and RDA.
- Familiarity with ILS-related technologies such as interlibrary loan software and collection analysis tools.
- Familiarity with library technology standards and protocols such as MARC format, RDA, and FRBR.
- Experience creating technical documentation.
- Experience in delivering in-person and virtual training.
KNOWLEDGE: - Knowledge of library science, including reference services and information management.
- Knowledge of structure and organization of bibliographic records and databases.
- Knowledge of principles of resource sharing.
- Knowledge of data collection and data analysis.
- Knowledge of governments and their organization.
- Knowledge of project management in both individual and team environments.
- Knowledge of web page design, database development, and product development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree (typically in Library Science)
Experience: 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Library Science)
OR Education & Experience Substitution: 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Library Science)
