Overview Planet DDS provides SaaS web and mobile products for dental offices and dental groups. The Director of Engineering Operations will drive the optimization of our software engineering processes and standards. They are a thought leader, an educator, and a consensus builder. They dive into critical details while keeping the big picture in mind. They balance theory and pragmatism. They keep in mind the customer, business, and product needs.
In addition to the operational responsibility, this is a strategic role that requires strong partnership with almost every function across the company. They collaborate with other senior leaders across the company to translate information technology capabilities into strategic business decisions. They build a strong long-term technology strategy that aligns with the company strategic plan and influences the overall company direction. They drive accountability and metrics ownership to translate strategy into results. And they align and inspire the product engineering organization by effectively communicating and engaging the team in the strategy.
Responsibilities & Duties - Innovate and optimize engineering process and standards.
- Provide standardized dashboards and KPIs and critical insights, analysis, and recommendations to optimize decision-making processes within Product Engineering.
- Facilitate cross-functional communication and collaboration, fostering a cohesive working environment between Product Engineering and other relevant departments.
- Collaborate with the CTO to define and implement the department's strategic vision, goals, and objectives.
- Develop and lead the technical investment roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall company strategy and engineering priorities.
- Take on development process and tools improvement projects to drive efficiency and consistency.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Minimum 5 years of experience as an individual contributor.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology leadership positions with an emphasis on software engineering – specifically SaaS.
- Demonstrated hands-on leadership in development and implementation of contemporary enterprise technology architectures, best practices and current innovations across technology solutions and platforms.
- Expertise with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience in 24x7 SaaS environments.
- Results-oriented with impeccable integrity with an emphasis on both individual and team accountability.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and informal communication skills, including ability to communicate complex technical terms using non-technical language.
- Significant relationship building skills with a history of heavy interaction with all levels of employees and management.
