Job Summary:
The Civil Structural Designer II will be responsible for production of civil structural design deliverables for the EPC Terminals civil structural department for EPC terminal/facility projects within the midstream oil & gas markets. Duties will include working with the project civil & structural lead to create 3D models and layout of all structures and foundations required for the project and using the model to develop final design package.
Primary Job Function:
- Design of civil structural layouts and arrangements of project deliverables within scope, budget, and on schedule in adherence with client and industry requirements and specifications.
- Work under the direction / supervision of the civil structural lead.
- Plan preliminary layouts using engineering notes, field sketches, and other information or drawings.
- Development of 3D model using CADWorx Plant / AutoCAD.
- Work with laser scan data using Autodesk Recap & Navisworks to accurately locate 3D model.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (piping, I&E, etc) to ensure full project scope compliance.
- Attend 3D model reviews to facilitate discussion and development of civil structural scope.
- Under limited supervision, develops and maintains all civil structural design deliverables from start to finish including organizing packages for checking and issuing to client.
- Visit client sites for bid walkdowns and to obtain field dimensions as needed.
- Coordinate laser scanning scope with subcontractors.
- Support and follow direction from the Civil & Structural, Division Lead.
Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of terminal and/or midstream facility design experience with a specialty in civil structural design.
- Minimum 10+ design experience if candidate does not meet the education requirements listed below.
- Field experience walking down projects and field sketching structures and foundations. Ability to shoot elevations is a plus.
- 3D Design experience with AutoCAD, CADWorx Plant, Navisworks, and laser scan software such as Recap or Cloudworx.
- Experience in design of foundations for pipe racks/supports, structures, equipment, and buildings.
- Experience in design of pipe rack structures, platforms, equipment support structures, etc.
- Experience in surface / UG drainage and Civil3D or other civil modeling software is a plus.
- Experience as a design lead and/or as a design checker is a plus.
- Experience with FEL, FEED, and Stage Gate is a plus.
- Applying industry standards such as ASCE, AISC, ACI, API, and PIP (Process Industry Practices).
- Developing all facets of civil and structural deliverables from start to finish.
Education/Training:
- Associate’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred. Bachelor's degree is a plus.
- Certificate in CAD Design / Engineering Technology or requisite design experience is required.

- Ability to assess complex design issues and provide cost effective solutions.
- Ability to provide technical advice to less experienced CAD users.
