We are looking for a prn pharmacist who is responsible for processing of prescription orders, labels, creation of compounding records, delivery tickets and the assembly of patient supplies and equipment and final product verification and quality checks prior to dispensing. The pharmacist will also assist with quality control, clinical review, coordination of care, maintaining of patient/clinical records Pharmacy Policy and Procedures Manual, and performance improvement activities as directed by the pharmacy manager.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for providing pharmacy services for the company and consumer through the appropriate evaluation of physician orders, compounding of sterile preparations, and safe and efficient dispensing of medications, supplies, and administration equipment. The pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care, information and/or consultation to the patient and other healthcare professionals. The pharmacist may supervise the activities of pharmacy support personnel, as well as quality control and performance improvement procedures.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Licensed R.Ph. in good standing with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy. Three years of clinical experience, minimum of one year experience with infusion therapy, and experience with management of pharmacy support personnel preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

· Recognizes patients’ rights and responsibilities and supports them in the performance of job duties; respects patient’s rights to privacy and confidentiality.

· Compounds sterile preparations for dispensing using aseptic technique.

· Maintains knowledge of USP chapter <797> to assure the quality, sterility, and stability of compounded sterile preparations.

· Reviews, processes, and checks physician orders and patient medication profiles.

· Uses available resources to gather information on drugs, equipment, and patient monitoring.

· Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of pharmacy work areas and the completion of quality control and performance improvement procedures as requested by the pharmacy manager.

· Acts as a resource and consultant to physicians, referral sources, and consumers regarding potential adverse reactions, and interactions, related to drugs dispensed.

· Acts as a resource and consultant to physicians, referral sources, and consumers regarding the proper use of medications, administration supplies, and administration equipment.

· Acts as the AIC patient care coordinator with outside nursing agencies; coordinates with nursing personnel regarding patient care, drug delivery, and clinical assessment.

· Directly supervises pharmacy support personnel in the appropriate compounding, packaging, and labeling of compounded sterile products.

· Maintains appropriate documentation of the care delivered to consumers and of drug prescriptions and compounding as described in the Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Manual and as mandated by individual State Board requirements.

· Assists with employee orientation and preceptorship as needed.

· Completes assigned paperwork/documents as directed in a timely manner.

· Shares knowledge gained with other staff members and works as a team member.

· Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner.

· Performs other job related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, referral sources, physicians, and consumers.

· Knowledgeable of current clinical issues, industry practice standards, and accreditation standards and ability to incorporate these standards into daily practice.

· Demonstrates extreme attention to detail and accuracy.

· Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

· Basic computer proficiency and knowledge in the use of Microsoft applications.
