Moog Military Aircraft Group is looking for
Processing Apprentices (Full Time) to join them. You will report to the Processing Supervisors and will have an onsite work schedule at our aerospace plant in
Torrance, CA. The Moog Apprenticeship program is designed so that the prospective Moog employee will receive hands on training on Moog special processes (Packaging, Masking, blasting, heat treat, plating, and paint).
Processing Apprentice (Part time)
• Duration of Program: Approximately 1.5 year with 40 hours a week.
• Schedule flexibility to work 1st or 2nd shift, Monday through Friday.
To be considered for an apprenticeship in processing, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Enrolled (Part-time) or have graduated (Full-time) from an applicable trade program such as, SCROC, Community College, or equivalent hands-on vocational educational program.
• This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
Compensation: 2024 starting rate for apprentices is $23/hr. Apprentices are eligible to receive a $0.75 step increases every 3 months until they reach the max of the apprentice range at $30. Apprentices are also eligible for an annual compensation increase in January; the top of the apprentice range will be adjusted accordingly.
Based on performance in the Apprenticeship Program and needs of the business, a position in processing may be awarded a full-time position on either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.
On The Job Training requirements are as follows: • Packaging & inspecting parts while learning to read blueprints (2 months)
• Abrasive Blast (2 months)
• Cell Utility plating-polish, plastic bead, mass finish, and mold press (2 months)
• Cell utility Heat Treat- Rockwell, thermal deburr, furnace load & unload, and shot peen (2 months)
• De-masking for paint (1 months)
• Masking for paint (1.5 months)
• Masking for Plating (1.5 Months)
From this point the apprentice can go one of three ways based on business needs:
• Special plating (6 months)
• Heat treat (6 months)
• Paint (6 Months)
Upon completion of apprenticeship program, we will assess the progress the apprentice has made and make a decision to offer a permanent role or extend apprenticeship, unless progress has not been satisfactory in which case, we would terminate apprenticeship. Termination of apprenticeship may be completed prior to a year completion if it is deemed the apprentice does not or cannot meet minimum expectations.
