Remote Staff Accountant - Public Tax
Overview:
The Remote Staff Accountant in Public Tax is responsible for supporting tax-related functions within a public accounting firm. This position involves preparing tax returns, conducting tax research, and providing assistance in various tax-related tasks. The Remote Staff Accountant works closely with clients and team members to ensure accurate and timely delivery of tax services.
Responsibilities:
- Tax Preparation: Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities in compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Tax Planning: Assist in tax planning initiatives, providing insights on potential tax-saving strategies for clients.
- Research: Conduct tax research to stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Extensive background in GAAP accounting
- Client Communication: Communicate with clients to gather necessary tax information, address inquiries, and provide updates on the status of tax return preparation.
- Document Management: Organize and maintain tax-related documents, ensuring proper documentation for audits or reviews.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members, including partners, managers, and fellow accountants, to ensure a seamless workflow and efficient completion of tasks.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, advising clients on proper record-keeping and reporting requirements.
- Remote Communication: Utilize remote communication tools and platforms to engage with clients and team members, fostering effective collaboration in a virtual work environment.
- Client Service: Provide excellent client service by addressing client needs, resolving issues, and delivering high-quality tax-related services.
- Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, attend relevant training sessions, and pursue professional development opportunities to enhance tax knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification or working towards CPA eligibility is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax preparation.
- Proficiency in tax software and accounting software QuickBooks & ProSystems
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Remote Work Skills: Proficient in using remote work tools such as video conferencing, document sharing, and communication platforms.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to addressing tax-related challenges.
