JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Managing a dairy farm is no easy task - especially when equipment or tools stop functioning. When things start breaking our members need quick, effective, fixes to get things moovin' again. That's where our Service Maintenance Technician will come in! The Service Technician is responsible for providing mechanical service, equipment installations, and repairs to all UDA member dairies.
SCHEDULE : M-F. Start time: 7am. End time: when the job gets done! Also requires night & weekend (days/nights) on call rotation availability!
PAY : Starting at $20/hour + DOE (depending on experience)
SERVICE TECHNICIAN PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Service member dairy farms with equipment maintenance, repairs, and replacements in an accurate and timely manner
- Collaborate with famers to understand service needs and ensure all equipment is functioning with minimal downtown
- Drive to various farms, throughout Arizona, to assist with scheduled and unplanned service needs
- Ensure fans, coolers, refrigeration equipment is operating efficiently
- Prioritize multiple service requests and projects
- Report and manage accurate and legible records of all services completed and pending
- Request and prepare equipment and tools needed for each project
- Always maintain food safety and quality standards, resolving and/or reporting compliance issues immediately
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable working with and around livestock (Yes, we do mean cows)
- Effective problem analysis and problem resolution skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals
- PLC and process controllers helpful
- Mechanical experience with drives, pumps boilers, air compressors, etc.
- Electrical experience 120, 240 & 480 volt systems
- Knowledge of commercial Freon refrigeration systems
- Must be able to use technical manual and testing equipment
- Must be familiar with dairy product concepts, practices and procedures
- Ability to make decisions impacting products and safety based on independent judgment and discretion
- Must provide personal hand tools
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal direction and supervision
- Shift work required, willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays
Experience :
- Minimum of 2 years in refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic experience or certificate from refrigeration technical school
- Clean driving record to drive a company vehicle
Education/Certifications:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires ability to sit, walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Requires ability to stoop, bend, reach, lift and carry items up to 50lbs
- Requires ability to climb ladders and stairs of varying heights
- Requires ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and extreme heat
- Requires ability to visually observe the condition of surroundings
- Requires ability to hear and speak
