Position Overview: Rational Unicorn Legal Services is seeking a dynamic Of Counsel Business and IP Attorney to join our team. As a certified benefit company, we focus on providing pay-as-you-go legal services for small businesses, nonprofits, and artists & entertainers. Our unconventional approach, coupled with a commitment to community engagement, sets us apart in the legal industry. Key Responsibilities: Legal Services: Offer expertise in business and intellectual property law, serving our diverse clientele in Washington, Oregon, and California. Flexibility: Enjoy the flexibility of working remotely with the ability to set your own schedule for appointments, ensuring that client projects and firm meetings are calendared and attended. Qualifications: Hold a law degree and be in good standing with the WA, OR, or CA State Bar. Soft Skills Required: Client Interaction: Engage with clients from initial consultations to project completion through various communication channels, including emails, phone calls, and video conferences. Relationship Building: Establish friendly working relationships with clients and potential community partners. Networking: Demonstrate a willingness to network with potential community partners on behalf of the firm. Organizational Skills: Showcase exceptional organizational skills, including a love for calendaring and time blocking. Humor and Community Sense: Bring a sense of humor, community spirit, and good people skills to the role. Communication and Problem Solving: Demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Legal Business Skills / Experience Desired: Business Knowledge: Possess a background in starting and running businesses; entrepreneurial knowledge is a plus. Entity Formation: Experience in general business entity formation (partnerships, LLCs, corporations). Nonprofit Expertise: Familiarity with nonprofit organization matters, including entity formation, tax-exempt applications, contract drafting, and advising. Contract Expertise: Proficiency in contract review, drafting, and revision. Additional Experience (Preferred): Trademark and copyright applications, corporate process and structuring, buy and sell negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, franchising, tax law, and HR and employment law. Transferable Skills: This position is ideal for a lawyer with experience in small business or nonprofit settings, offering a change of pace and clientele variety.
