Job Summary/Basic Function: About This Role:
The JLD Program Administrator will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day efforts of identifying or developing off campus employment opportunities for Lamar University students. The Program Administrator will build relationships and network with employers in the community through the local chamber of commerce, ribbon cuttings, and other events as well as through the utilization of HireACardinal, the Handshake job database. This position is charged with building relationships with community business associates to educate them on the Job Location & Development Program, the services of the Center for Career and Professional Development and recruit them as an employer by conducting intentional outreach via in person, phone, and email.
What You’ll Do – Position Duties
- Develop and create content for the website and handouts to educate the community on the Job Location & Development program, services offered, and the benefits of hiring Lamar University students.
- Track student placements and report semester earnings for the students who found part-time employment.
- Utilize Handshake, Navigate, and Banner to check and verify enrollment of students as well as conduct annual reporting.
- Maintaining and managing the Handshake job database, approving jobs and marketing HireACardinal (Handshake) to employers.
- Support the day-to-day functions of the Center for Career and Professional Development is required including attending career fairs and events to network with local employers to create job opportunities and promote the JLD program.
- Support and assist students who are searching for employment opportunities through career development i.e. resume prep, application assistance, interview prep, etc. or by making an appointment with a Career Consultant.
- Additional, support may be needed for testing and may require certifications in the Pearson Vue and/or Prometric testing labs.
