Behavioral Analyst

Aurora Behavioral Health System, the state's largest free-standing psychiatric hospital system, is looking for a Behavioral Analyst for our Tempe facility's new Developmental Disorders Unit. Our Developmental Disorders Program will produce the highest quality treatment outcomes through a combination of expert programming, specially trained caregivers, and the individual potential of each patient. In our Developmental Disorders Program, children with developmental disorders, such as autism, will receive intensive treatment for aggression, self-injury, impairment in functioning, and mental health challenges.

The Behavioral Analyst will serve the Developmental Disorders Unit by assuming responsibility for supporting the behavioral team in development of behavior plans, behavioral analysis of selected target behaviors, education of staff in plan procedures, and supporting the family/caregiver behavioral training program, as well as having primary responsibility for the integrity of all behavioral data needed for patient care.

The primary focus is enhancing the delivery of effective and measurable behavioral treatment to patients and maintaining and improving clinical data feedback loops between direct care staff and the clinical staff. Secondary focus is generalization of behavioral treatment to families and other caregivers. Data collection forms, procedures, monitoring and analysis are the sole responsibility of this position, with appropriate back up personnel for scheduled absences. The position may delegate certain data entry functions as needed, but remains responsible for the integrity of all program behavioral data. The position is supervised by the Behavioral Director, due to the focus of this position on clinical data and clinical interactions. The position has no personnel management responsibilities. Position pays up to 92,000 a year based on experience.

Essential Functions:

• Assist in the development of behavioral assessment and behavioral treatment protocols under guidance of behavioral director
• Perform formal behavioral analysis procedures for selected target behaviors
• Coordinate behavioral assessment and treatment protocols for all patients
• Model and teach behavioral plans to DDP staff
• Prepare and maintain data collection sheets, other clinical data forms, graphing, and data analysis for patients in coordination
• Documentation of service provided
• Support the family/caregiver training program including scheduling sessions, training families/caregivers, and facilitating effective
• Ability to demonstrate annually full competency in CPI skills

Job Requirements

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Board Certified Analyst required. Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of post-certification experience required.
• Must have at least 1 year of experience in the provision of behavioral analysis and behavior analytic treatment.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and organizational skills for the development and delivery of training programs.
• Must display strong interpersonal, planning, forecasting, analytical skills and maturity required to work in the hospital environment.
• Knowledge of psychiatric service delivery system and treatment methods.
• Specific knowledge and skills in area of training and development.
• Skills in data collection, analysis, evaluation and interpretation.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Sound interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and educate clinical staff.
• Must have experience with coordinating and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
• Teaching and training skills are required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to adapt to constant change and a fast paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
