Benefits Specialist

The Benefits Specialist supports the administration and communication for all insurance programs including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life, voluntary life, and disability for a variety of our clients. Experience with a variety of insurance plan designs, compliance and administration is preferred. This individual will also handle all COBRA administration and may help with leave of absence paperwork and workers compensation claims.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 2 to 5 years of experience in benefits
- Knowledge of benefit plan design and administration for a variety of benefits including: medical, dental, vision, life, voluntary benefits, and disability
- Knowledge of benefit regulations such as, HIPAA, ERISA and COBRA
- Knowledge of best practices for benefits communications is a plus
- Intermediate computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills are required, experience with Employee Navigator or another benefits software program is a plus
- Data entry experience is required
- Experience with benefit vendor portals is a plus
- Ability to learn new technologies and possess the technical aptitude required to understand flow of data through systems as well as system interaction
- Detail oriented with strong analytical skills

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists employees in understanding benefit offerings for multiple clients and act as a liaison between the client, the HR team, the broker and the carrier.
- Maintains payroll and benefit system and vendor portals to process all benefits including benefit enrollments, terminations, dependent changes, address changes and legally mandated benefit data.
- Assists HR team with benefit enrollment meetings, eligibility, and open enrollments.
- Maintains accurate benefit records and prepares documents.
- Assists with building and maintaining benefits and plans in benefit portal.
- Assists with setup for open enrollment and life event modules annually.
- Serves as a contact for employee benefit questions and responds timely to all phone and email inquiries. Researches issues and works with vendors to ensure resolution of issues.
- Assists with reconciling all benefit invoices to make sure all participants are added or removed timely and correctly.
- May help coordinate leave of absence and disability programs including providing policy information to employees, working closely with our third-party administrator, communicating with managers, providing timely pay updates to our payroll team, monitoring cases.
- Provides payroll and accounting with client billing information regarding employee insurance coverage as well as deduction information and billing adjustments.
- Track, process, and manage COBRA administration
- Track, process, and manage LOAs, FMLA, and USERRA
- Performs other duties as assigned.
