Job description
Under designated administrator, collaborate with the assigned administrator to facilitate the process of transforming the site into a Full Service Community School. Work in partnership with the school administration and appropriate committees to assess the school community’s needs and assets, coordinate student and family support services, and enhance the outcomes of the Coordination of Service Team (COST) processes. Collect and analyze relevant data, leverage internal and external resources, and monitor the implementation of services to ensure that students have maximum access and are making optimal progress. Ensure alignment, expansion, and improvement of services to create a learning environment that supports both student achievement and family wellness.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Support the Full Service Community Schools structure and implementation by performing duties such as:
Support the development and implementation of needs-driven programs and services in adherence with the community school model, including but not limited to early childhood through adult education programs, health services, parent/family engagement, enrichments and interventions
Coordinate, connect and support the people and programs - external and internal - related to student and family support
Review existing data/information
Conduct key stakeholder interviews, surveys & focus groups as needed
Conduct community resource mapping
Conduct program evaluation and ongoing quality improvement
Introduce community school model and the Community School Specialist role to the greater school community
Work with a site team to identify barriers to learning, available resources and gaps, and to develop programming that is community responsive
Maintain partnerships with city and county services and non-profit agencies to provide support and opportunities to students and families that meet their identified needs
Act as a liaison for potential new partnerships
Support the district and site level multi tiered systems of support framework
Facilitate regular meetings, planning sessions, joint work plans and collaborative problem-solving/conflict resolution with full service community school partners
Oversee and coordinate the entire COST process: Maintain an effective referral process; facilitate/co-facilitate the coordination of services team, where members review, assign and follow up on referrals with students, families, staff and providers, and troubleshoot student and systems issues, review process training, data collection, evaluation of services, and monitor identified student progress
Train and support service providers to align programs with school structures, systems, curriculum and goals
Provide support and technical assistance to the various school leadership teams
Support the integration of youth leadership, parent engagement, and family support through the Full Service Community School e?orts
Ensure that services programs and other supports are inclusive
Participate actively in professional development
Provide cross-training to other staff members

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school and completion of two years of college or university work in social sciences or related field; plus three years’ experience working with students and families in a student focused or social services field.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The duration of the eligibility list is 6 months unless extended by the Executive Director of Classified Human Resources and the Personnel Commission.

Hayward Unified School District does not pay for employee health and welfare benefits.
Full-time employees are required to purchase medical health benefits. Half-time and less than half-time employees may participate on a voluntary basis. Health benefit costs are 100% employee paid through a pre-tax payroll deduction. Employees may opt out of health coverage upon presentation of proof of alternate coverage.
Dental coverage is mandatory for all employees working 20 hours per week, or more, regardless of outside coverage. Less than half-time employees may participate on a voluntary basis. The District contributes the full premium for "employee only". Any additional premium will be employee paid.
